About Us
The River Street Market A Family of Farmers & Artisans
River Street Market began in 2017 as an LLC that several Petersburg business owners invested in together to get a farmers market opened back up. The city run market was moved and vendors dispersed to other areas several years prior. Opening day was May 6, 2017. RSM began as a produce and arts market that quickly became a community gathering place with monthly events.
In 2019 the decision was made to change over to a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, River Street Education, with original founder Richard Cuthbert at the helm as Board President. After that transition the market added more events, live music and a longer market season.
In 2020 with new grant funding partnerships we were able to bring a mobile farmers market. POP! Market, to the Petersburg Community, add an Online Marketplace as well as open River Street Market year round!
In 2021 River Street Market started the Pop Club for kids every Saturday and distributed over 2,000 bags of produce to our community! This year we are expanding out non-profit organization projects to include a food hub to better serve our community and our producers.

Through our year-round farmers market, events, and initiatives, we aim to support local farmers, promote healthier food options, and enhance the overall well-being and vibrancy of our city and surrounding areas.

We envision a culturally vibrant, economically resilient, and community centered culture for the City of Petersburg. A culture where well-being is prioritized and access to nutritious & local foods is abundant.
