River Street Farmers’ Market wants to be sure that you have continued access to fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, jams and jellies, meats and poultry, plus personal care products and still see the friendly faces of your favorite vendors. (Practicing safe physical distancing, of course.)
The River Street Farmers Market serves as a center of activity in historic Old Town Petersburg by providing a variety of high-quality local produce and handmade goods from local growers and artisans. Vendors seek to create an enjoyable atmosphere that serves not only the market but also contributes to a prosperous Old Town Petersburg revitalization and promotes a sense of unity within the community.
The farmers market aim to provide a sustainable outlet to obtain fresh, locally grown food, agricultural products and quality handcrafted items for local residents and visitors, while promoting community interaction through education and entertainment events. Our vendors offer a wide selection of local goods ranging from fresh produce, eggs, meat, honey, baked goods and prepared foods to flowers, plant starts, hand-crafted soaps, jewelry, art, clothing and more.
Parking
Old Town Petersburg has many parking options, lots of street parking and there are several lots nearby to the Market. There are public lots: diagonally across the street (in front of the Historic Farmer’s Market Building), diagonally across the street in the other direction (in front of the Union Train Station), 2 blocks away on Bollingbrook Street (across from Wabi-Sabi Restaurant), and 2 blocks away on Pike Street to the side of the Southside Depot Train Station.

We proudly DOUBLE SNAP DOLLARS at the River Street Market. We want everyone to eat healthy! We use the token system. Simply chat with the Market Manager, tell the Manager how much money you would like to take off your card, the Manager will run your card, and you will receive tokens in exchange. You can use those tokens instead of cash to buy fresh foods and produce. The Vendors redeem those tokens at the end of the day for cash from the Manager. Simple!
